When I was nine years old, I had a traumatic injury (that changed the course of my life). A neighbors’ dog bit me on my behind and dragged me for a few blocks. Although I didn’t have any broken bones, this injury affected the alignment of my spine and hips, caused several bulging intervertebral disks and led to many years of chronic pain in my back, right hip and leg.

The pace of modern life is fast, and even when we get a free moment it can be difficult to relax. Yin and Restorative Yoga offer techniques for balancing activity with acceptance.
PRANAYAMA & MEDITATION
The practice of yoga brings our awareness to what we already have. And one thing that we all have is our breath. Unfortunately, many people are constantly so busy that they even rush through breathing. These short breaths reach only to the upper lobes of the lungs, creating a stress response that most people don’t even realize. Short, shallow breaths trigger stress hormones that lead to prolonged activation of sympathetic nervous system.
Yogic pranayama (prana - “life force” in Sanskrit) is much more than just deep breathing. One of the major benefits of pranayama, breath work that involves inhaling through the nose, is the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide delivers oxygen deep into the seven layers of our tissues (dhatus) - plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bones, nerves, and the reproductive organs. Pranayama also helps maintain healthy weight, boosts immunity, and elevates mood.

There are great benefits along the path of self-discovery, and the greatest is the journey itself. We are always changing, and yoga helps us accept our true self in the present moment with love and compassion. We offer yoga sessions for beginners, for relaxation, for fitness as well as kids & family yoga.

Yoga brings our attention to what we already have. We all have our breath, so pranayama (breathwork) has an important place in our yoga program. We all experience the benefits of deep relaxed breathing or even of a single deep full breath in and out through the nose. Many other techniques we teach are just as simple, easy and you can use them anywhere any time you need them. Numerous studies refer to the effectiveness of meditation, deep breathing and mindfulness in dealing with trauma, chronic pain, anxiety and depression. Yes Yes Yoga is dedicated to bringing this wonderful practice to all seeking healing and optimal health. Our mission is to share simple yoga tools for everyday life.
